教宗本笃十六世说：“由于最近几天在吉尔吉斯（Kirghizistan）南部发生严重冲突，我强烈地呼吁，希望当地能尽快恢复和平与稳定。我也向那些因这次悲剧而遇害的家属和受苦的人，表达我衷心的慰问，并肯定我的祈祷。此外，我鼓励所有种族摈弃任何的煽动行为或暴力。我希望各国致力给予受打击的人民即时的人道援助。”
