教宗本笃十六世1月22日上午接见了前来梵蒂冈拜访的越南共产党中央委员会总书记阮富仲（Nguyên Phu Trong）先生。圣座国务院发表公报指出："越南共产党总书记与教宗和圣座国务院高层负责人会面尚属首次。双方在亲切的会谈中表示希望能尽快解决一些悬而未决的问题并使现存有成果的合作得以加固。"
