教宗方济各4月28日复活期第五主日在带领圣伯多禄广场的信众诵念天皇后喜乐经前，特别为孟加拉国的遇难者祈祷。教宗说：“在这特别的时刻，我要为孟加拉国工厂倒塌悲剧中的无数罹难者祈祷，向哀痛中的受难者家属表达我深切的关怀。同时，我打从内心深处热切呼吁，应该维护劳工的尊严和工作安全。”
