教宗方济各7月6日接见为阮文顺枢机列真福品教区会议的代表时，称阮枢机是个与天主密切结合的人，因为是天主召叫了他做祂仁慈与爱的司铎。阮文顺枢机早在1975年任西贡的总主教，因信仰坐监13年。教宗强调，阮枢机是希望的见证人，凡是遇见过他的人都被他的见证和圣德深深打动。
