教宗方济各9月28日上午在梵蒂冈花园露德岩洞主持弥撒圣祭，负责梵蒂冈城治安和秩序的梵蒂冈宪兵队参加了礼仪。教宗在弥撒讲道中对宪兵队说："我要求你们不仅要守卫梵蒂冈的门和窗"，当然这是必须和重要的工作，你们还要"像你们的主保圣弥额尔一样"守卫在梵蒂冈内工作的人的心灵之门，"我对你们的要求"正是"互相抵御说人闲话的行为"。
