教宗方济各于10月30日公开接见活动结束前，为伊拉克发出和平呼吁。教宗说："我邀请你们为可爱的伊拉克祈祷，好使该国找到修和、和平、合一与稳定的道路。不幸的是，那里每天都发生悲惨的暴力事件"。公开接见活动结束后，教宗方济各问候了由圣座与各宗教对话委员会主席托朗枢机陪同的伊拉克各宗教代表组成的代表团。教宗向代表们说："你们是伊拉克的财富"。
